Where Illinois Transportation Professionals Connect, Grow, and Shape the Future of Infrastructure.
The Illinois Association of Highway Engineers, founded in 1936, is an organization for transportation professionals of the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT), affiliates, and corporate members. It is a chartered, not-for-profit, non-sectarian, and non-union organization.
The Association’s program and activities are governed solely by its IDOT voting members through a Board of Directors elected by local Chapters corresponding to all of IDOT’s nine Districts.
IDOT professionals, engineering firms, agencies, and associations are encouraged to join IAHE.

Each year, the State Board, in coordination with our individual Chapters, proudly extends a helping hand through scholarships.
These scholarships are designed to provide crucial financial support to ambitious students pursuing their dreams of attaining a degree in the dynamic field of transportation and engineering.
The Association's goals include advancing the engineering profession, encouraging professional development, and promoting fellowship and collaboration among its members. To accomplish these goals, Chapters hold regular meetings which include presentations where attendees earn Professional Development Hours (PDHs) on topics relevant to Illinois transportation interests and host social gatherings like golf outings, bowling tournaments, and picnics.
IAHE hosts an annual fall conference that rotates between different regions throughout the state. The conference includes technical sessions related to transportation projects as well as social events and entertainment. The conference is another way for IDOT employees and consultants to network and earn PDHs.
